Hang Seng Index Questions
Is there any way to trade the Hang Seng index on the US market? I've noticed that very often the Asian Market follows the US market's previous day's results, am watching to see how often this happens. What a trading advantage it would be to be able to predict with fair accuracy what will happen in Asia and be able to trade accordingly. Any ideas?

Ways To Take a Leveraged Short Position on China? Ways To Take a Leveraged Short Position on China Many people have asked me how to get short the Chinese market using maximum leverage and the only products I can think of are these: FTSE/Xinhua China 25 Index Futures & Options Hang Seng China H - Financials Index Futures Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (H-Shares) Index Futures & Options You can see from the average daily volume numbers (April 2007) that the liquidity is nothing to write home about, except maybe for the H-shares Index Futures (the H - Financials Index Futures just started trading on April 16 - early days). If you have an account at Interactive Brokers, you should have access to these products. I’m not recommending you take a leveraged short position in any of these markets, just as I don’t recommend standing in front of a loaded freight train going 100 miles per hour. Anyone have any brighter ideas than these?

What does "underwhelmed" mean in? Investors in Hong Kong-based Lenovo are underwhelmed. A few months ago, Lenovo got booted off the Hang Seng Index, Hong Kong's equivalent to the Dow.
How can I calculate market return on a stock index ? How to choose risk free rate and calculate cost of debt? 1) I'm doing a valuation analysis of a specific stock listed on Hang Seng Index. To derive the cost of equity, I have to calculate the market return. However, the return from Aug 2006 to Aug 2007 is as high as 33%. I think it is better to use an average, say 10 years or 15 years average index return. Is that right? Or how can I adjust the 1-year market return from Aug 2006-Aug 2007? 2) In choosing the risk free rate, I chose the 10-year HK government bond, is that OK? 3) In finding cost of debt, what kind of debt should I use? The company hasn't issued any corporate bonds, so should I look for the recent bank loan interest rate?

A Justice Department audit released Thursday blamed the lost connections on the FBI's lax oversight of money used in undercover investigations. In one office alone, unpaid costs for wiretaps from one phone company totaled $66,000. In at least one case, a wiretap used in a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act investigation "was halted due to untimely payment," the audit found. FISA wiretaps are used in the government's most sensitive and secretive criminal and intelligence investigations, and allow eavesdropping on suspected terrorists or spies

about economics! click here!? Can i ask how does a currency play role in a country. Stronger currency means prosperous country? I'm wondering, 1 kuwait dinar= almost 2 euro. where japanese yen is almost devalued. how is that? i'm really curious. and the higher the value of a stock market index, that means it has more listings or it has more wealth... i saw that nikkei for now has 7,800+ value while dow has 8,000+; how about brazil which is 48,000? and hang seng? 14,000? how's that?
